Sarah Hancock

As Managing Director of Brehon Ltd, Sarah initially started the business from home in 1995. Over the past 14 years Brehon has grown and developed with its customers and Sarah is immensely proud of the high levels of service offered at every level.

Sarah came to Guernsey in 1975 and was lucky enough to attend St.Martins Primary School followed by the Grammar School for Girls. On attaining her A Levels Sarah decided to study towards a unique degree at that time of Business Studies with German. Based at the Humberside College of Higher Education in Hull and the Fachhochschule in Munster, Sarah spent 2 years in each country, including works experience, and gained a degree in Business Studies in England and the equivalent in Germany.

After a very short 5 month stint as a trust administrator at Barfield Bank, Sarah joined and later qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the local accountancy firm Reads & Co.

At that time Sarah felt very strongly that there was a gap in the market for a firm of accountants who were customer focused, and this was when the concept of a new company was born.

Brehon Limited came bouncing into the World on 7 October 1995.

Sarah initially started working from home at Port Soif. After a couple of years she bought and renovated the Old St Martins Post Office, which is where we are now based.

Over the past 14 years Brehon has grown and developed with its customers.

As Managing Director, Sarah faces day to day business challenges but has embraced these challenges and uses them to enhance the services that she is able to provide. Finding solutions to her own business problems has helped her to identify and understand her customers real business needs.

Also key to Sarah is her strong team of dedicated professionals, many of whom are only able to work because of the flexible working environment that is provided.

Once the working week is over, Sarah usually has a few hours to take advantage of some much needed play-time..

Top of the toy list is her Lotus Elise that she has owned for (a personal record of) 9 years. It puts a smile on her face whenever she drives it, so this is encouraged greatly by staff around the time of pay reviews.

Sarah also has a passion for boats, and while sailing has taken a back seat for the time being to due lack of time, she does have a rather small boat with a rather large outboard engine that the family often play on when the weather allows. Sarah also enjoys flying and while she doesnt have any wings, her husband does.

Sarah loves spending time and having fun with her family. Her husband is probably the biggest kid and makes her (and many others) laugh. Her step sons are 14 and 11 and Sarah's children are 5 and 3 so as you can imagine, there is never a dull moment!
